On Blogging...Vol. 2

I want to thank everyone for their comments on my blogging post. It really means a lot to me that my post struck a chord with so many people. I've continued to think about this, spurred on by your comments and the posts that so many of you have made on your own that have caused me to examine my own blogging habits. Part of my reexamination of my blogging habits involves analyzing the blogs I love to read.

Why do I love to read them?

What inspires me to comment?

Am I inspiring others in this same manner?

And decidedly, I was not. I receive so many more comments when I post honestly, from my heart. I have held back on this blog from posting so many ideas and inspiration.

Sometimes, I am apprehensive because I worry it is not what you want to hear.

Sometimes, I suffer from just putting my personal thoughts and feelings in the internet ethos because it is forever documented in some eternal dossier out there in the cyberworld.

I visit other people's blogs because I want to know more about something, about these people that I have seen, their work, their philosophies.

That brought me to a realization about this blog. Remember when I said that I started this blog for my business? Yes, I did. However, I think that people visit this blog though because they want to know a little bit more me as a person....why I make the things I do, what makes me tick perhaps....And I'm ready to start sharing a bit more.

I really am. So, thank you, for coming here to learn about me, as a person. I look forward to getting to know you as well.

Hey Barbara, I think you're completely right here. The honest blogs that let you peek into someone elses world are the ones I come back to time and time again. Pretty pictures help but when someone writes from the heart, you can totally tell and it makes you want to come back for more.

Aren't blogs wonderful that they make us search our souls as we take tiny peeks into the souls of other bloggers.
I started my blog "for my business" as well, but my day isn't fulfilled until I have a chance to sit down and read what all my blogger buddies have to say. It's my lifeline. And since they are sharing their souls with me, it's only fair that I should open some of mine to them. Yes?

Most definitely you guys! Thank you for your kind words! I'm so stoked about this new part of my blogging! It is so exciting! I tend to be very closed mouthed as a person and obviously then, as a blogger...but our whole lives are all about growth, no?

It's funny that you mention this because I was really apprehensive about blogging a bit about my personal life recently and actually put off posting it for a few days. When I finally posted it, I was overwhelmed with everyone's comments! I realized that it is o.k. to share some of your personal life on your blog, and that readers actually like to learn more about you outside of the main focus of your blog, which in my case, is jewelry. So, looking forward to learning more about you on your blog! :)

Barbara, great post! I read your first blogging post from the other day, and then this one. I love how you're putting your feelings out there and blending the personal and business. Why? Because you started your business from the heart! It is personal, it's almost like a child that started from your heart and you're nurturing it daily into the business it's become.

Thank YOU for letting yourself open up! I think it's wonderful!

{Hugs!}

Gee, Barbara all I can say is "ditto" to your thoughts here. I know I am always hesitant about what I share because I know it will be out there somewhere in cyberspace forever! And I try not to reveal too much personally to protect my family because who knows who reads my blog...some times I think it is okay to be cautious, and for good reason.
I like those thought-provoking questions you asked, about why do you visit the blogs you do and what inspires you to leave comments. I know for myself I return to the blogs where I feel a personal connection, and not that I'm the 100th reader and lost in anonymity. I prefer that personal aspect that brings us together.
